November 8th is National STEM Day – an unofficial holiday celebrating students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

While we here at e1011 labs love any excuse to toast the hardworking innovators involved in STEM, we’re not talking about math when we talk about Stem – though we do consider them a feat of engineering and science.

When we talk about Stem, we’re talking about premium sun-grown hemp flower packed in a convenient planet-friendly paper shell.

What is Hemp Flower?

Hemp is a variety of the Cannabis Sativa L plant that contains very little of the psychoactive cannabinoid THC. In order for a Cannabis plant to be classified as hemp in the United States, it must contain less than .3% THC.

Hemp flower is exactly what it sounds like – the hemp plant’s budding flower that’s rich in terpenes and cannabinoids like CBD. That flower is then harvested, dried, and cured before undergoing a special process akin to pasteurization and being added to a Stem.

The hemp we use is a proprietary blend we source from farms committed to sustainable agriculture. Each batch undergoes rigorous third-party lab testing to ensure our flower is as potent as advertised, and free of any unwanted heavy-metals or pesticides. Want to see if the hemp in your Stem passes the test? You can see the certified test results by scanning the QR code found on your Stem packaging or by clicking here and finding your batch number.

Is There THC in Stems?

The lab-tested hemp used in Stems is full-spectrum. This means that the flower contains all of its original cannabinoids and terpenes, including THC. These cannabinoids work together in what’s called the entourage effect to enhance the effects of CBD. However, because there is such a marginal amount of THC content in hemp (less than .3%), its presence doesn’t create the feeling of intoxication usually associated with getting high.

CBD Flower vs CBD Extracts

These days, many CBD products come in the form of extracts like tinctures, vaporizer cartridges, or infused foods. Before hemp can be transformed into a concentrated extract, CBD flower must first go through a complicated process that utilizes potentially toxic chemicals. Usually, these chemicals are filtered out of the final product, but there’s always the potential for human error.

By filling our Stems with all-natural hemp flower, instead of a liquid extract (i.e. CBD oil), we’ve removed all possibility of harmful solvent residue ending up being inhaled by a customer. Additionally hemp flower provide smore terpenes and cannabinoids than CBD isolate or broad-spectrum counterparts. By opting to skip this processing, we’re also conserving water and energy, which helps us achieve our goal of being eco-friendly and sustainable.

Ultimately, the debate between flower and extracts comes down to personal preference, but for e1011 labs, the choice is clear. Hemp flower provides a more natural curative experience for consumers that is safer and better for the planet.

Stem vs Traditional Vape Cartridges

Traditional vape cartridges are horrible for the environment. They’re usually made of a combination of metal and plastic and end up sitting in a landfill – or worse, the ocean.

Stems, on the other hand, are made from paper. So not only are Stems more sustainable to produce than your everyday vape cartridge, they’re also better for the planet in the long run. If you’re interested in more information, check out our blog post comparing paper to metal and plastic.

Stem Uplift vs Stem Relax

Our Stems come in one of two distinct blends: Stem Uplift or Stem Relax. Each CBD hemp flower blend utilizes a different mix of cannabinoids and terpenes to create its unique effects.

Stem Uplift is perfect for daytime use or whenever you feel the need for a little boost of plant-based wellness.

Stem Relax is better for nights when it’s time to unwind and truly relish moments of peace.

Not sure which one is right for you? The Elon Starter Kit comes with the Elon device itself, as well as a pack of Stem Uplift and Stem Relax. Each pack of Stem includes 20 individual Stems that last for 3 minutes each - perfect to use alone and perfect to share. Grab your best hemp buds and try them both, to figure out which one is your favorite!

Why Is Stem Better?

Many individuals are looking to add plant-based wellness into their everyday routines with CBD flower products. Stems, paired with Elon, allow for a mess and hassle free way to do so. Until now, consuming hemp flower has been limited to rolling it yourself, pre rolls, hemp cigarettes, or dry herb vaporizers that require packing the device yourself. The Elon Starter Kit is a marriage of the best parts of each of those methods optimized for your convenience and wellness. You are not smoking stems, but instead gently heating them at low-temperature to activate and release these cannabinoids.

Now the question is why are individuals looking to increase their cannabinoid intake?

A lot of anecdotal evidence shows that CBD along with other cannabinoids and terpenes, help improve quality of life and offer a whole host of different benefits. This is not to say that Stems are intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any diseases or illness, but instead that adding Stems to your life can enhance your current wellness routine.

Note: Almost all CBD products have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any diseases or illness. Epidiolex is currently the only FDA-approved CBD prescription.
