Is my plant a hermie?
The top of the plant has buds forming, but one branch has pollen sacs

Question: This cannabis plant is growing both male and female parts/flowers. Is it a hermie? What do I do? Can I pluck the balls and grow her to harvest?

These two pictures come from a single plant that’s been in the flowering stage for about 2.5 weeks. She is showing beautiful white hairs / pistils up top.

However, on a single 10″ branch, I can see little ball formations (shown in the second plant). They look like male pollen sacs. Could this mean my plant’s a hermaphrodite? This is my first grow in a grow tent. The plant is under a 600w MH grow light. The growing medium is soil (Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil) and my nutrients are the Fox Farms Nutrient Trio for soil.

The balls are only growing on one branch. If she is a hermi, is there a way to amputate the bad branch to protect the rest of the plant?

Also, will she continue forming buds or is it a male plant at this point? Also, this plant is being grown in a grow tent with another female. Should I keep this one around or butcher it now to prevent from pollinating the other (apparently healthy) female plant?

Cover Crops & Companion Plants for Growing Weed: Good or Bad Idea?
Cover crops are used to help keep soil healthy.

What Are Cover Crops or Companion Plants?

Have you ever heard of the term “cover crops” or “companion plants”? Basically this is a plant that you keep alongside your main plant, and it provides benefits in a symbiotic way.

For example, some cover crops such as clovers have the ability to “fix” Nitrogen out of the air. They are actually able to pull Nitrogen out of the air to use within the plant. As you may know, Nitrogen is one of the most important plant nutrients because it is directly related to a plant’s ability to produce new green plant matter. Without Nitrogen, plants turn yellow and stop growing.

Example of Cannabis Plants in Pots Grown with Companion Plants
Amazing picture by Joe “Nunya” Biz who uses a purely organic, no-till method of growing

Since clovers pull Nitrogen from the air, when the clovers die this extra Nitrogen can slowly leach into the soil for your main plant. The idea is you don’t have to fertilize as often because the clovers will naturally provide some of the Nitrogen for you. Therefore cover crops like clovers have proven to be helpful for...

You Won €250,000/mo. from BILL GATES!

I'll let you all know what happens when I deposit my ticket...
Don't worry, you're all invited to a party on my new yacht!
I know the picture above looks hilarious, but this was a real scam...and it worked! They would get a gullible person excited about this fake check, then send them a request for information. The poor victims sent them bank info, Social Security numbers, and pretty much everything but their organs.

You probably already realize to ignore any emails from Bill Gates, especially since he hasn't run Microsoft in almost a quarter-century. But just in case, don't trust anyone who contacts you regarding large sums of free money. Even actual free money (like from a bank or the government) can be verified without compromising your personal information. When in doubt, check the official website of the organization for answers.

Make sure to watch out for seed scams! Remember: Real seed businesses don't contact you. They let you contact them. If anyone messages you to sell you seeds on social media, look out! It's possible they will take your payment and send nothing. Always take a second to think before sending money to anyone, especially if they contact you (whether by DM, text message, phone call, email, etc.).

Recommended Cannabis Seed Sources

These sources have gotten great reviews from our readers:
  • Seed Supreme – California, United States
  • ILGM (I Love Growing Marijuana) – California, United States
  • Herbies Seeds – Europe (seemingly out of the UK and Spain)
