Are there any advantages/disadvantages to grinding everything up, and storing in air-tight containers? Best to grind as you go?
Oh, great question! Watching this for answers. I have been doing it as I go so far, which hasn't been a whole lot yet but I can see where sitting down and grinding up ahead of time would be much more convenient

i grind as i go and keep the bulk in the resealable bag it comes in... with humidity patches i only grin about a weeks worth at a time on bad weeks or a couple days on good ones...

pro's to small batch grinding ( easier to control daily usage and knew when its time to reorder and least for me) Easier to keep the bulk humidity controlled to much grinded and you may find some moisture loss by the end of the batch

LOL, makes for a gunky grinder, for sure. I did my CBG that way to keep it more accessible. Problem is, I rarely ever grab it. 1582020340995.png

I appreciate everyone's replies. I keep a little bit available of some strains, but the bulk of it is still in bud form, in the mylar things they came in. I think I'm gonna get some small-ish glass jars in the near future, just for storage. Next will be where to put that. I'm already being reminded how much vape stuff I have, won't be longll be hearing it about CBD, too.

I haven’t ground any yet. I just break it up. Possibly because that’s the way we do it with MJ, since we’re usually buying 1/8 or 1/4’s. Never seems like there’s so much that we should grind it up.

Am I missing something not grinding?

If using a dry herb vaporizer grinding makes the flower more available for the heat to reach all of the grind. Plus if you have a grinder with an extra chamber that catches kief, that is saved for later whenever you want. Grinding just helps the heats reach all of the flower. But if using a pipe it's no issue

Maybe that’s why my XMax is not great. But it might just be my user error.
I’d love to be able to have my own kief. It’s one of the things I like to add the most to the CBD flower.

I may just try another dry herb vape mod, though. Thanks!

This depends on how long you are keeping the flower for.

if it's only going to be a week or two then grinding it up would be fine.

Longer than that at best should be in an airtight glass container in bud form
A worst in a zip lock bag in bud form.

I mix mine for dry herb use (MMJ & CBD) so I grind enough to make 8 to 11 grams each time.

I keep it in a small 3" X 3" bag but it's gone within a couple weeks every time.
I would be afraid that if I grind it up all of the terpenes would get lost over time.
When it doesn't smell as strong as it did when you got it that is because the terpenes are starting to dry up.
As soon as you break the bud up and the oxygen hit it this starts happening.

For small amounts to carry with my vaporizer I store it in one of these containers that come with exotic coils:

If you have your dry herb vape full when you leave the house it can be filled at least 2 to 3 times when this container is packed full.

I had a half dozen of these things lying around and found them as a great option to keep small amounts of product in.
I have a sticker system on mine.
The two MMJ strains have smiley face stickers on the bottom. :)

Another pro is: when they are screwed shut the outside of the container doesn't smell.
