Here is something I have been curious about. THC and THC alone does it dull pain or does it make you forget you have pain? See this is what I struggle with the most when I talk to people. There are times I'm in great pain and an hour later after taking a dose someone may ask.. so Joe how is your leg? And I'll be like.. Huh? What? Oh that... Yeah it still kinda hurts.. but you just kinda laugh it off and then you move to the next conversation.

I don't have the research article anymore but that is a question of great debate. Studies say it does actually does dull the pain but what is deadening pain? Technically it's the blocking of pain receptors in the brain, so it's deadening/blocking the pain impulses to the brain. But wouldn't that be kinda forgetting about your pain also?

as i understand it from my young and rec days THC alone will make it like you dont care about the pain to some extent in essence it could lessen the pain but will come back at some point as the THC levels drop...

Yes but basically doesn't all pain medications work by blocking the receptors in the brain, so would you be able to say that even heavy pain med's make you basically "forget" the pain?

So in all respects taking cannabis would be not all that much different than taking a chemical pain pill only with the natural (canna) you don't get the nasty side effects of opiates.
IMHO natural beats chemical hands down

THC and THC alone
here is an interesting angle to the question. as far as i know/have seen/tried, there is only one way to get thc alone, and its pretty expensive and not very common (thc diamonds). shatter, hash and all the other concentrates are full spectrum extracts so they contain whatever cbd (and other stuff) that was in the flower. in my experience with diamonds, i would say they are likely not the best at pain reduction on their own. whenever i try diamonds i just feel like i took the pill from that movie 'limitless' 😀 people usually mix them with 'sauce' which is all the terpenes and other cannabinoids that separate from the diamonds when they are being made...which brings back in all the expected effects that come with them.
does it dull pain or does it make you forget you have pain?
i find its both. there is definitely actual/traditional/medicinal pain reduction taking place. it will never take all the pain away, but it will turn the volume knob from a ten to a four, which is a vast improvement for someone who lives like that 24/7. the other aspect is distraction...if you can catch a break for a couple hours giggling at the tv or lost in a book/album/game/conversation, thats a couple hours of recovery from all the stress and misery of living with whatever condition is causing all the pain/problems...and thats an extremely valuable couple hours. there is science to back up the old saying 'laughter is the best medicine'...so try to do it as much as possible :)

You’re right, distraction from pain is a great way to cope with it. And flower helps so much with that. (Or concentrates.)

Those diamonds sound interesting. I wonder if they’re worth it with CBD.
