Liquid THC

I feel high almost immediately from liquid THC. Is this normal? I rarely smoke weed, and when I have I got quite a sudden and intense high. Normally it knocks me out until the neck day if I have a couple puffs. No way would I be able to smoke weed, then go out to the bar with my friends. Tonight I mixed a drink with vodka an THC oil in it/some sublingual. Is my boyfriend correct? Am I just crazy: is this something psychological? Or am I actually feeling high very quick once I ingest this?
