I am pretty new to the game, been dabbling with use for about 6 months now and have a question. Does CBD negate the high feeing from THC?

I use primarily with my vape and being from canada, it is from government stores. I have noticed that using my cartridges that are just THC, both indica and sativa, I get that stereotypical high associated to them. However if I go to the cartridge that is a 1 and 1 - equal ratio of THC and CBD that high feeling significantly decreased. Like I can be sky high, giggles and all, hit the 1 and 1 and my high immediately just goes to that nice mellowed out feeling. I’m not complaining just thought it interesting and curious if that is a normal observation.
