Does recreational use chow up on employer background check?

Illinois resident here, I haven’t been to a dispensary yet bc I’m lucky enough to have friends that share. I’ve heard that you have to take your driver’s license with you and some data associated with that is recorded. If at a later date an employer were to run a criminal background check would they be able to tell you had previously purchased recreational marijuana?
