Can covid contaminate marijuana?

An ignorant question. But if you, hypothetically, purchased cannabis not from a dispensary (maybe even from dispensary). Then took all other safety precautions. Would you have to still worry about covid being on the cannabis directly? Should you wait a period of time to use? Or is it okay to smoke but wash your hands? I Feel like it would be fine as long as you wash hands dont touch face if, if it were contaminated. Any ideas or thoughts?
