Anyone ever use hemp wick?

Love some hemp wick for lighting flower. No nasty lighter fluid and it lasts a while.

yeah they are very nice. i barely smoke any more, but i highly recommend people use hemp wick if they do. when i quit cigarettes and started vaping, i tried to stop smoking weed/extracts too. after a couple weeks of no cigarettes/smoking/lighters, i got my sense of taste back....and now if i use a lighter for smoking anything, its all i can taste. i honestly dont know how i did it before without noticing lol.

When I quit smoking cigarettes I didn't really know much about vaping flower. Usually just smoke when my wife is involved or out with friends. Wife doesn't like the vape. . But use the boundless a lot. If I had known then what I know now.

i still dont know much about vaping flower. i only tried a couple old ones (the volcano and the newer, but still old skunk stick) but neither of them really impressed me for flower. i should have a look at the current stuff, im sure its improved along side of vaping. i think the skunk stick came out back around the time the first gen sub ohm tanks were starting to blow up.

yeah i still end up smoking with other people quite a bit too. most of my social circle are the type of people who will usually bring some to any occasion ('grocery shopping? lemme roll a couple before we go'), or just want to show you their latest/greatest. i still enjoy it a lot, especially in nice glass with hemp wick, i just wouldnt want smoking it to be my primary method any more.

Like a candle wick sort of. So you don't have to inhale lighter fluid. Light the wick and puff away. Can put it out with your finger.

@mach1ne I’ve asked you dumb questions before, so how do you work this hemp wick? You just light it with something and use the wick string to light your bowl?

I can’t see lighting it with a lit piece of string!!

thats exactly it. its quite stiff. you use it just like you would use a match stick, light the tip and use that to light your bowl. i usually have a candle lit to re-light the hemp with so i dont have to juggle the wick pipe and lighter all at once. i think @cac found a cool holster/holder/dispenser thing for it on etsy in the thread on vu. the point of it is to stop inhaling lighter. the lighter fumes are no good, and using a pipe requires you to inhale lots of them. aside from being a bit healthier, it also lets you get better flavor from whatever you are smoking. i really cant believe how much i can taste it now on the rare occasion i use one for a pipe (compared to only using them and not knowing the difference).

Loving the hemp wick-can't believe I had never heard of it until it was brought up on vu thread. Have moved on to candle due to bic thumb--soo much better. @Huckleberried found these really cute dispenser jars on etsy. But as a prime addict I got a giant roll that came with jar. @mach1ne summed up the result perfectly. @Rhianne you will be amazed if you try

I will get some. I trust you and mach1ne! The ironic thing is that I bought a Zippo a while back. But it’s useful to have for an emergency, I guess.
I got the cutest 100g storage box in the shape of a Chinese cat. Now I just have to find it again on eBay to get more. I’ve got so many Ball/Mason jars but they’re really too big. I could put a few bags from Berkshire or Plain Jane in just one. :blech:

This is true! Lol Until I have the extra money to spend on fun stuff, it will still have to be the lighter. Matches don’t taste any better to me, anyway.

when its up to me i mostly stick with dabs of concentrate at this point. i still smoke a few times a week as a result of other people being sociable or the old 'you gotta try this'...but i prefer to dab.

Makes Cali sound like a cool place. I knew a bunch of Dead Heads years ago who were like that. It was really fun, actually.

I’d have to figure out how to dab. What kind of pipe should I look for? Or is it something you put in the bowl? You’d think I was a new smoker!

theres a lot of ways to go about it, and the actual definition is pretty loose of what a dab actually is. some ppl refer to the concentrates themselves as dabs, other ppl define it as the act of vaporizing (or smoking i guess) a dab of whatever concentrate you have...my day to day method of choice is a dab rig, which is just a bong with a special bowl designed for vaping concentrates. they come in all shapes/materials/names (titanium nails, quartz bangers, ceramic etc), but they are just a thing that goes where your bowl normally does and gets hot enough to vaporize concentrates. there are electric ones with temp control boxes heating them, and there are some that you heat up with a small torch. once its hot you drop your dab in and it operates like a normal bong.

Thanks! Is it okay if I ask you about any bongs or pipes I may find? I don’t want to buy something that won’t work.
It seems kinda complicated, but then again I always thought bongs were a little complicated! :teehee:
